Founded in Incheon, South Korea by Grand Master Jang, Kummooyeh is a prestigious martial art steeped in tradition and refined for the modern world. Today, it is a truly global discipline, with a presence spanning from South Korea to Germany, Australia, Singapore, and the United States.
Our program offers a comprehensive curriculum that transforms students into versatile martial artists through four core pillars: Sword Forms: Mastering the fluid, rhythmic patterns of ancient battlefield movements. Sword Sparring: Testing your reflexes and strategy in a safe, high-energy environment. Traditional Archery: Developing the "zen-like" focus and precision required for the Korean bow. Mat Cutting: The ultimate test of technique, where advanced practitioners use live blades to demonstrate power and accuracy (Adults Only). A Journey of Progression This is the ideal discipline for those who value technical mastery and disciplined effort. Your journey begins with the Mokum (wooden sword) for fundamental drills and foam blades for sparring. As you ascend through our full rank system—from White Belt to Master—you will earn the right to train with high-quality metal blades and, eventually, the razor-sharp sword used for traditional cutting. WHAT WE TEACH: KUMMOOYEH
We teach KUMMOOYEH, a traditional form that focuses on body, mind, and spirit integration. This practice helps you find peace and balance in your life through sword (Gumdo) practice.
BODY | MIND | SPIRIT
Tai Chi involves stretching, continuous motion, and turning of the spine. We exercise the whole physiology including muscular, skeletal, and circulatory systems, as well as tendons, joints, connective tissue and organs. Rather than depending on tension and the development of hard muscle tissue, these arts develop a body that is relaxed and strong at the deepest levels.
